I have a project for biology, and I am researching the impacts of over harvesting medicinal plants on biodiversity. If you have any websites I can look at so I can site them, that would be great as well.

Where are medicinal plants located that may be over harvested?
When did this become an issue?
How are the plants an impact on the biodiversity of their ecosystem?
What are the organizations that are protecting the plants?
And any other impacts over harvesting may cause?

Please site your sources and if you have anything to add to help me ace this project that would be awesome…Thanks!!

i’ll just give you my favorite extinct plant that became that way due to the way the Romans loved its effects. Silphium, it was actually a birth control agent in ancient times and was so widely popular that its image was even printed on coins. This is actually the only reason we even know of its existence. We can never actually know for sure if this plant did what they though it would do since we can no longer test its properties or chemical make up.
